Deadpool & Wolverine is a 2024 American superhero film based on Marvel Comics featuring the characters Deadpool and Wolverine, produced by Marvel Studios, Maximum Effort, and 21 Laps Entertainment and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. It is the 34th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and the sequel to Deadpool (2016) and Deadpool 2 (2018). The film is directed by Shawn Levy from a screenplay he wrote with Ryan Reynolds, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Zeb Wells. Reynolds and Hugh Jackman star as Wade Wilson / Deadpool and Logan / Wolverine, respectively, alongside Emma Corrin, Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Aaron Stanford, and Matthew Macfadyen in supporting roles. In the film, Deadpool discovers that his universe is set to be destroyed by the Time Variance Authority due to the death of his universe's Wolverine, and he partners with a reluctant Wolverine from another universe to save his own.

Development on a third Deadpool film began at 20th Century Fox by November 2016, but was placed on hold after the studio was acquired by Disney in March 2019. Control of the character was transferred to Marvel Studios, which began developing a new film with Reynolds. It integrates Deadpool from the X-Men film series with the MCU and retains the R rating of the previous Deadpool films, marking a first for the MCU. Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin joined in November 2020 as writers. Reese and Wernick returned from the previous films for rewrites by March 2022, when Levy was hired as director. They, along with Reynolds and Wells, had difficulty figuring out the film's story until Jackman decided to reprise his role as Wolverine from the X-Men films in August 2022, alongside numerous actors from various non-MCU productions. Filming began in May 2023 at Pinewood Studios in England, with additional filming in Norfolk and at Bovingdon Film Studios. Production was suspended in July due to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike, but resumed in November and wrapped in January 2024. The film's title was revealed a month later. The film is dedicated to its production designer Ray Chan, who died three months before the film's release.

Deadpool & Wolverine premiered on July 22, 2024, at the David H. Koch Theater in New York City, and was released in the United States on July 26, as part of Phase Five of the MCU. It has grossed over $590.6 million worldwide, making it the fourth-highest-grossing film of 2024

In 2018, Wade Wilson uses Cable's time-traveling device to cross from his native timeline of Earth-10005[a] to Earth-616—the "Sacred Timeline"[b]—where he meets Happy Hogan and unsuccessfully requests to join the Avengers.

Six years later, Wade has retired from being the masked mercenary known as Deadpool and is working as a used-car salesman with his friend Peter Wisdom after breaking up with his girlfriend Vanessa Carlysle. During his birthday party, the Time Variance Authority (TVA) captures Wade and brings him to Mr. Paradox, who offers him a place on Earth-616. However, Paradox also reveals that Wade's timeline is deteriorating as a result of the death of its stabilizing "anchor being", Logan.[c] Paradox details his plans to use the "Time Ripper", a device he developed to mercy kill timelines, to prematurely destroy Wade's timeline. Wade steals Paradox's TemPad to escape and dig up Logan's grave. When he fails to resurrect Logan, Wade uses the TemPad to travel the multiverse and find a variant[d] of Logan to save his timeline.

After encountering various Logan variants, Wade takes one back to the TVA, where he learns that this particular Logan is considered the worst Wolverine in the multiverse. After an argument, Wade learns that Paradox is acting without the knowledge of his superiors, which prompts Paradox to prune Wade and Logan into the Void. There, Wade and Logan fight before they and Johnny Storm[e] are captured and taken to Cassandra Nova, the twin sister of X-Men leader Charles Xavier. Cassandra, who was pruned as an infant but made a deal with the TVA to stay willingly in the Void, kills Johnny and leaves Wade and Logan to be consumed by Alioth, although the two manage to escape.

Logan and Wade meet a variant of Wade called "Nicepool", who gives them a car and points them to the Void's borderlands, where the resistance against Cassandra is located. However, Logan chastises Wade for hiding the fact that he is unable to fix Logan's timeline, leading to a fight that leaves them both unconscious. Laura[f] drives them to the borderlands, where they meet resistance members Elektra,[g] Blade,[h] and Gambit.[i] Wade dubs them the "Others" and proposes an alliance to fight Cassandra. Logan refuses to cooperate, but eventually relents after a conversation with Laura about his inability to save the X-Men in his universe. Wade, Logan, and the Others go to confront Cassandra, and manage to block her powers by placing Juggernaut's helmet on her head. However, Cassandra is betrayed and injured by her henchman Pyro on behalf of Paradox. Logan convinces Wade to remove the helmet, allowing Cassandra to heal and open a portal back to Wade's timeline.

Arriving on Earth-10005, Wade and Logan find that Paradox has completed the Time Ripper. Cassandra, having learned of Paradox's plan from Pyro before executing him, arrives through another portal and kidnaps Paradox to reach his machine. She plans to use the Time Ripper to destroy all timelines, leaving only the Void, as revenge for Paradox's betrayal. Cassandra summons an army of Deadpool variants who kill Nicepool and battle Wade and Logan until Peter arrives and convinces the variants to relent. Paradox tells Wade and Logan that one of them could destroy the Time Ripper by disrupting its power flow, though such an action would atomize them. Using both of their bodies as conductors, Wade and Logan destroy the Time Ripper, killing Cassandra in the process, but survive as they shared the burden. Paradox is then arrested by Hunter B-15 from the TVA.

B-15 reveals that Wade and Logan's actions have stopped Wade's timeline from deteriorating. Wade requests B-15 free the Others from the Void, before asking if it is possible to rewrite the history of Logan's timeline. B-15 says it was his history that made Logan the hero needed to stop Cassandra and that there is nothing to fix. Logan, who wishes to retire and live a peaceful life, bids farewell to Wade, who takes him to meet his friends, alongside Laura. On Logan's encouragement, Wade reconciles with Vanessa.

The film is directed by Doug Liman, written by Anthony Bagarozzi and Chuck Mondry and produced by Joel Silver. It also stars Daniela Melchior, Billy Magnussen, Jessica Williams, Joaquim de Almeida, JD Pardo. Austin Post, and Conor McGregor.

Road House premiered on March 8, 2024, at the opening night of the South by Southwest festival, and was released by Amazon MGM Studios via Prime Video on March 21, 2024. It received mixed reviews.

Troubled former UFC middleweight fighter Elwood Dalton makes a living scamming fighters on the underground circuit. He is approached by Frankie, the owner of an unruly roadhouse in the fictional Florida Keys community of Glass Key, who offers him a job as head bouncer. Initially hesitant, Dalton takes up the offer after narrowly averting a suicide attempt with a freight train that destroys his car. He takes a bus to Frankie's establishment, called simply The Road House, and befriends Charlie, a teenager who runs a bookstore with her father, Stephen.

At the Road House, Dalton fends off a motorcycle gang working for local crime boss Ben Brandt and personally drives the injured thugs to the hospital, where he meets Ellie, a doctor who tends to his injuries. Staying in Frankie's disused houseboat, Dalton mentors the other bouncers and becomes popular with the locals. After an attempt on his life by gang leader Dell, Dalton finds him lying in wait at his houseboat with a shotgun. He throws Dell overboard but is unable to save him from being killed and eaten by a crocodile.

Knox, a psychotic enforcer, is tasked by Brandt's incarcerated father to hunt down Dalton. After an unexpected date with Ellie, Dalton is confronted at gunpoint by Sheriff, who tells him to leave town. However, Ellie, revealed to be the sheriff's daughter, intervenes. She explains that her father is in league with Brandt, who has inherited his wealthy father's drug empire. Brandt meets Dalton at the Road House and taunts him about his past: In a UFC title fight against a friend, Dalton was overcome with rage and killed his opponent in the ring. Knox arrives with Brandt's men, and an all-out bar fight ensues, leaving Dalton badly beaten.

Frankie admits that Brandt has been buying up property to build an expensive resort, but she is the lone holdout. Dalton decides to leave town but discovers that Charlie and Stephen are in the hospital after Brandt's men burned down their bookstore. Enraged, Dalton kills one of the thugs responsible and captures a sheriff's deputy making a large delivery of Brandt's illicit cash, framing the deputy for the murder and taking the money. The sheriff soon informs Dalton that Brandt has kidnapped Ellie and will exchange her for the money.

Stealing a bomb-laden motorboat to reach Brandt's catamaran yacht, Dalton finds him with the sheriff, who tells him the kidnapping was a lie to lure Dalton aboard. However, Brandt reveals that he is holding Ellie hostage. Tempers flare as Knox approaches in his boat, but Dalton detonates the motorboat and finds Ellie below deck, attempting to smash a window. Fleeing the sinking yacht, Brandt recaptures Ellie while Dalton commandeers Knox's boat. Catching up to Brandt, Dalton and Ellie leap off as Brandt is launched on top of the Road House.

Climbing up on a causeway, Knox carjacks a pickup truck and crashes into the Road House, leading to a brutal fistfight with Dalton. When Brandt orders him to kill Dalton, Knox snaps Brandt's neck instead. He prepares to finish off Dalton with a shard of wood, but Dalton gains the upper hand and repeatedly stabs Knox into submission. The sheriff arrives, agreeing to cover up for Dalton.

As Frankie and Stephen begin to rebuild, Charlie says goodbye to Dalton as he waits for his bus out of town. Stephen discovers Dalton has left them the trunk of cash as the bus pulls away. In a mid-credits scene, Knox has survived and assaults the hospital staff, leaving in his gown.

Bad Boys: Ride or Die premiered at Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai on May 22, 2024, and was released in the United States on June 7. The film grossed over $389 million worldwide against a production budget of $100 million, becoming the ninth-highest-grossing film of 2024

Four years after the death of Isabel Aretas, MPD Detective Mike Lowrey marries his physical therapist, Christine. During the reception, his partner, Detective Marcus Burnett, suffers a mild heart attack and goes into a coma, where he experiences a vision of the late Captain Conrad Howard telling him it is not his time.

When Marcus wakes up, he believes he cannot die. Soon after, a news report reveals that Captain Howard was tied to corruption with the drug cartels. With Captain Howard's legacy being posthumously tarnished, Mike and Marcus are determined to prove his innocence with the help of Captain Rita Secada and her new boyfriend, mayoral candidate Adam Lockwood. Mike and Marcus visit Mike's son, Armando Aretas, who is incarcerated for Howard's murder. Armando tells them that Howard was not corrupt, but knew who was, so the corrupted officials hired him and his mother to kill Howard because he was close to exposing the corruption and offers to help them identify the person responsible for Howard's murder.

When the conspirators try to access Captain Howard's computer, a fail-safe, pre-recorded video is sent to Mike and Marcus, warning them of corruption within federal and state law enforcement. Howard uses the phrase "Coke bottle" as a codephrase and it is revealed that he gave information to their former hacker colleague Fletcher. They go to Fletcher's club to retrieve the "files", which turns out to be a QR code hidden in wall art that unlocks a second video from Captain Howard. However, assassins hired by the conspirators tail them to the club and kill Fletcher.

Meanwhile, Armando is attacked by several of the conspirators disguised as prisoners, but he fends them off. Mike and Marcus arrange for Armando to be air-lifted to a more secure location in Miami. However, the conspirators sneak on board and kill the pilot and guards, causing the helicopter to crash. Mike, Marcus, and Armando survive but are branded as wanted fugitives by the conspirators. When the conspirators put out a bounty, the three are hunted by both law enforcement and opportunistic criminals. Conrad's daughter, U.S. Marshal Judy Howard, swears vengeance on Armando for killing her father.

With the assistance of AMMO members Dorn and Kelly, Mike and Marcus uncover the video clues behind the murder and setup. Armando identifies the man who hired him to kill Captain Howard as James McGrath, a former Army Ranger turned DEA agent. While undercover, McGrath got captured by the cartel and was tortured until he gave up his associates and has been working with them ever since. McGrath orchestrates the kidnapping of Christine and Callie, Judy's daughter. He then sends his men to get Marcus' family, but his Marine son-in-law, Reggie, single-handedly kills them all. Rita, Dorn, and Kelly apprehend Lockwood after he is exposed to be working with McGrath.

Using Lockwood as bait, the team engages in a fierce gunfight with McGrath's men at a former alligator-themed amusement park to rescue Christine and Callie, where Lockwood is devoured by an alligator after he attempts to double-cross the team. Mike confronts McGrath, who holds both Christine and Marcus hostage at gunpoint. McGrath then presents Mike with an ultimatum: he must pick either Christine or Marcus to die. Mike, alluding to Marcus' newfound belief that he "cannot die", shoots Marcus in his bulletproof vest. The chaos allows Christine and Marcus to break free before Mike shoots McGrath dead. Amidst the chaos, Judy finds Armando and Callie. Judy prepares to kill Armando, but Callie tells her mother that he saved her life. Begrudgingly grateful for his heroic act, Judy shows mercy to Armando and allows him to escape.

Afterwards, they and Howard are cleared of all charges and the corruption is exposed, Mike and Marcus celebrate by cooking food on a public grill with Reggie.

In 1859, in the San Pedro Valley, a party of surveyors mark stakes to outline the borders of a forthcoming frontier town, Horizon. Soon after, Desmarais, a missionary, seeks out Horizon and discovers the surveying party dead at the hands of a Western Apache war band. He buries their bodies and establishes the town of Horizon.

Four years later, a flourishing Horizon is set upon by an Apache raid led by Pionsenay, killing several residents, including the husband and son of Frances Kittredge. Local boy Russell Ganz flees on horseback during the carnage to alert the Army at the nearby Camp Gallant. A detachment of Cavalry and Infantry, led by 1st Lt. Gephardt and Sgt. Major Riordan, and Neron Chavez, Chief Scout in charge of the Pima Indian Scouts, assist with the burial of the dead, the searching for the tracks of the raiding party, and the recovery efforts of the survivors. Frances and her daughter Elizabeth leave with the Army to seek sanctuary at Camp Gallant. At the same time, Russell joins a posse led by fellow survivor Elias Janney and scalp-hunter Tracker to go after the Apache. Gephardt warns the posse of indiscriminate retaliation against the Natives driven by scalping profitability. Frances and Elizabeth adjust to life at Camp Gallant. Gephardt's non-interventionist moral code regarding Indigenous land clashes with his Commanding Officer, Colonel Houghton, and his ideology of the inevitability of manifest destiny. Elizabeth befriends some of the troops at the Post and is heartbroken when they are recalled East to fight in the Civil War. Frances and Gephardt begin a romance.

Pionsenay argues with his tribal elder Tuayeseh over his raids on the settlers. Pionsenay believes that the settlers will push them out and lead them to war against other tribes, while Tuayeseh believes in co-existence and considers reprisal for Pionsenay's actions. Pionsenay and his warband, including one of Tuayeseh's sons, voluntarily leave the tribe to continue their war against the settlers.

In Montana territory, Lucy shoots James Sykes and flees south to Wyoming with her young son Sam. With Sykes wounded, the family matriarch Mrs. Sykes orders her sons to go and recapture her. Living under the name Ellen Harvey, Lucy marries businessman Walter Childs and cohabitates with Marigold, a prostitute working independently. Marigold propositions horse trader and customer Hayes Ellison, before she returns home to care for Sam while Walter and Lucy depart for one of Walter’s land sales. Walter and Lucy realize that the land buyers are the Sykes brothers, Caleb and Junior. Walter is accidentally killed by Caleb as the men kidnap Lucy. Junior, the eldest brother, sends Caleb to find Sam in town, where he encounters Hayes. They both go to Lucy's home where Hayes kills Caleb in a shootout when he realizes Caleb is going to kill Marigold. Hayes flees the town with Marigold asking him to take her and Sam. Settling in a railroad work camp, Marigold abandons Sam and Hayes for a traveling gambler who offers her a life with security. She leaves the child in the care of a Chinese worker's family.

A wagon train led by Matthew Van Weyden treks the Santa Fe Trail to Horizon. Among the group is the pretentious British couple Juliette Chesney and Hugh Proctor. It also includes the extended family of Frances' late husband. As they travel, they are watched by a pair of Pawnee warriors scouting the Wagon Train, causing them to slow their progress and prepare to defend themselves. During the night, Juliette catches two men peeping at her as she bathes in the drinking water, Van Weyden must warn the two away from the couple but neither appears to intend to listen.

Elias and Russell’s posse encounter and try to intimidate an Indigenous man at a Trading Post, but Janney and the Trader deescalate it from turning into a bloodbath. Due to the lack of results in finding Pionsenay's band, the group decides to go after any Indians wherever they can find them. They learn of a Tonto Apache village nearby and wait for the village's hunting party to depart before massacring and scalping the women, children, and elderly of the tribe to Russell's horror. The posse rides away, leaving before the hunters can return to take their revenge, with the consequences of their action soon to show across the land.

Hit Man is a 2023 American romantic comedy film produced and directed by Richard Linklater, who co-wrote the screenplay with Glen Powell. The film stars Powell, Adria Arjona, Austin Amelio, Retta, and Sanjay Rao. It follows an undercover New Orleans police contractor who poses as a reliable hitman as he tries to save a woman in need. The basic premise was based on the true story of a college professor who worked for the Houston police in the late 1980s and 1990s as a fake hitman, as described in a 2001 magazine article by Skip Hollandsworth.

Hit Man premiered at the 80th Venice International Film Festival on September 5, 2023. It was released in select theaters in the United States on May 24, 2024, before its streaming debut by Netflix on June 7, to critical acclaim.

Gary Johnson is a mild-mannered professor of psychology and philosophy at the University of New Orleans who also works undercover with the New Orleans Police Department to assist in undercover sting operations. When Jasper, a cop who portrays fake hitmen to solicit murder-for-hire confessions and payments from the suspects, is suspended for police brutality, Gary is unwillingly ushered into the role.

Gary quickly finds himself to be a natural in garnering solicitations, going so far as to research suspects in advance and tailor a unique hit man character for each one. He adopts a confident and charismatic persona of a man named Ron for a discontented married woman named Madison, who is trying to have her abusive husband killed. Gary quickly becomes both sympathetic and attracted to her, ultimately refusing the money and suggesting she use it to restart her life, much to the disappointment of Jasper and Gary's other coworkers, Claudette and Phil. Gary later begins a sexual relationship with Madison without revealing his true identity to her. To keep up appearances of being a hitman, Gary shows her how to use a gun, instructing her to aim for the heart.

One night after clubbing, Gary and Madison have a heated encounter with Ray, Madison's ex-husband, which ends with Gary pulling a gun to back him off. Later that night, the couple encounter Jasper, who is suspicious of them being together. A furious Ray attempts to have Madison killed, unknowingly contacting Gary. Upon recognizing Gary as Madison's boyfriend, Ray rushes out of the sting and proclaims that he will kill her himself. Gary informs Madison and attempts to move her out of her house, but she dismisses his fears, stating that Ray wouldn't have the courage to follow through. Gary is later called into work to discuss Ray's murder, and learns he was shot in the heart with bullets belonging to a gun like Madison's. Gary confronts Madison, and she admits to the murder, prompting Gary to reveal his true identity in a panic. After being kicked out by Madison, Gary returns to the police, who reveal their evidence on her is building after discovering Ray increased his life insurance policy before he died. Jasper, who knows of Gary and Madison's relationship and is jealous that Gary took his job, suggests Gary try to solicit a confession out of her using the Ron persona. Gary arrives at Madison's house with a wire and pretends to interrogate her while giving her acting cues typed in on his phone. Their charade convinces the police that she is innocent, but Jasper later comes to Madison's home, blackmailing her and Gary to pay him Madison's inherited money from Ray's life insurance policy lest he send them both to jail for Ray's murder. Madison drugs Jasper's drink, causing him to pass out, and Gary ties a plastic bag over his head and plans to stage his death as a suicide. The story jumps forward several years later, depicting Gary and Madison now happily married with two children.

Angela Nikolau and Ivan Beerkus climb the world's last super skyscraper, blending daring acrobatics with a tumultuous love story.

Initial release: January 18, 2024
Director: Jeff Zimbalist
Distributed by: Netflix
Cinematography: Renato Serrano; Pablo Rojas; Ivan Beerkus; Angela Nikolau

If you’ve never used the word rooftop as a verb, it’s likely that you’ve not been following Angela Nikolau and Ivan Beerkus, a pair of Moscow daredevils who’ve made a career out of scaling some of the world’s tallest buildings. Their climbs are often technically considered trespassing — and completed with minimal or nonexistent safety precautions in place. But Nikolau and Beerkus aren’t just climbing buddies — they’re also in love. Their shared passion for climbing and each other are at the heart of Skywalkers: A Love Story, a new documentary from co-directors Jeff Zimbalist and Maria Bukhonina.

“There’s a danger to romance,” Zimbalist told Netflix’s Queue. “It crushes us. It breaks our hearts. It breaks our hopes. Here, that danger is material. If the love falls apart, if the trust falls apart, it’s life or death. That felt like such a potent way of taking this amorphous sense that we all have in our romance and externalizing it and making it tangible.”

Skywalkers: A Love Story combines over 200 hours of material shot across seven years and six countries, as well as Nikolau and Beerkus’ own footage of their most heart-pounding ascents. The documentary chronicles the couple as they prepare for their most challenging climb yet: breaking into Malaysia’s Merdeka 118 super-skyscraper (including its 160-meter spire). At times, the film feels like an intimate portrait of trust and teamwork. At other times, it’s a tense, cover-your-eyes thriller that leaves you guessing how a relationship survives this kind of pressure.

“When they get on the spires or cranes, the danger factor is exponentially higher,” Zimbalist said, noting that the film crew (which included cameramen Renato Serrano and Pablo Rojas) never pushed the pair to put themselves in more dangerous situations than they would normally, nor did they incentivize them to push their luck for the sake of the shot. “They know each other and they can read each other’s [body] language, but we had not practiced with them, so having cameras around could be distracting and put them in further danger. Luckily, they’re great photographers. They were able to get amazing coverage when they went up without us to these heights; [it’s] just gorgeous spectacle.”
